Cawdor Estate - Since 1295

Cawdor Heritage

Lord Cawdor. Cawdor Estate. Secluded Holiday Cottage in the Scottish HighlandsCawdor Estate is located in a beautiful and easily accessible part of the Highlands of Scotland. The Estate spans over twenty miles north to south and has been in the ownership of the Earl’s and Thanes of Cawdor for over 700 years. The family are members of the Campbell Clan with its own distinctive tartan.

Cawdor has a famous association with Shakespeare’s Macbeth.
Cawdor Castle , which was built round a holly tree in 1375 by the Thane of Cawdor, is nearby and 4 miles away is the battlefield of Culloden, where Bonnie Prince Charlie’s 1745 uprising was bought to an abrupt and merciless end by the English crown troops. On the nearby stretch of coast lie the spectacular beaches of Nairn, and The Culbin Forest, with its fascinating history shaped by nature and is home to a badger hide.

Drynachan Lodge and the holiday Cottages are located in secluded spots, each complete with its own private garden. The properties have been renovated and designed, in a cosy, yet contemporary style, all with comfortable beds, pretty furnishings and log fires.
