Fly salmon fishing is let by the week, on a seven mile stretch of the River Findhorn, which rises in the west at the Monadhliath Mountains and meanders down into the Findhorn bay on the Moray Firth. The season commences at the end of April with the spring run and ends at the end of September. Cawdor has a 50% catch and return policy as do most Estates in the area, to preserve fish stocks for future years. The Findhorn River is renowned for its salmon fishing; there is also trout and sea trout to be found.
There are 3 beats, the top beat is Ballachrochin and Shennachie, which borders on to the neighbouring Moy Estate, the middle beat is Daless and the lower beat is Dalbui each beat has a few good pools and a lunch hut. The three beats rotate together over the course of the 6 day fishing week, from Monday to Saturday, so everyone will fish each beat twice, a beat map and rotation document will be sent prior to arrival.
Fisherman’s and Gardeners cottages , two of our 4 star holiday Cottages are down on the banks of the Findhorn, they are both very popular with our Fishermen who return year after year.
