Conservation & Biodiversity
Woodland and moorland are managed to support habitat diversity and species recovery. Red squirrels, red kite, pine martens and ground-nesting birds all benefit from long-term landscape planning.

Rivers & Fish Stocks
The River Findhorn is central to the estate’s ecology. We work in partnership with organisations including the Findhorn, Nairn and Lossie Fisheries Trust to support water quality and sustainable fish populations.

Forestry & Sustainable Timber
Cawdor manages 3.9k hectares of woodland. Timber is harvested responsibly and processed locally, supporting both habitat value and commercial viability. Cawdor Forestry Ltd provides woodland management expertise on the estate and for private clients.

Managing Invasive Species
Programmes are in place to control invasive non-native species such as giant hogweed, knotweed and Himalayan balsam, protecting native flora and riverbanks.

Renewables & Climate Responsibility
The estate operates a hydropower scheme supplying properties and feeding into the grid, and hosts a wind farm contributing to regional energy supply. Biomass and solar options are under consideration as part of future energy planning. As rural infrastructure evolves, we are also exploring practical solutions such as electric vehicle charging to meet changing needs responsibly.

Farming & Land Management
Arable, grazing and stock management remain central to the estate’s economy and landscape structure, supporting soil health, biodiversity and long-term rural livelihoods.
SUSTAINABILITY
Land Stewardship
Cawdor’s landscape is its greatest asset — and its greatest responsibility. Stewardship here is practical and continuous, balancing ecology, economy and heritage with long-term sustainable development in mind.
