OUR ROLE
Part of the Community
Cawdor is part of a working village and wider rural network. The estate supports local employment, housing and long-term livelihoods, contributing to the stability of the area.

Employment & Housing
The estate provides work across farming, forestry, maintenance and hospitality, alongside seasonal roles and local contractors. Residential properties are maintained for long-term rural living, supporting the stability of the village and wider rural area.

Working with the Community
We liaise regularly with Cawdor and West Nairnshire Community Council and contribute to local priorities where appropriate, including support for infrastructure such as the B9090 bridge crossing. We provide premises for the village shop and assist with the upkeep of shared spaces.

Education & Young People
We host annual engagement events for local primary schools, offering insight into farming, forestry and moorland management. Introducing young people to the working lives of foresters, keepers, shepherds and farmers strengthens long-term connection to the landscape. Schools may contact the Estate Office or the Royal Highland Education Trust for further information.

Farming & Forestry
Farming underpins local supply chains and rural skills. Forestry provides both commercial output and recreational access, managed with a long-term perspective for the benefit of both the estate and the wider community.

Access & Local Initiatives
Woodland footpaths near Piperhill and Culcharry increase responsible public access and are maintained in line with Scottish Land Commission guidance. The estate supports village initiatives including the provision of annual Christmas trees and maintenance of the community football pitch.

Seasonal Events
From seasonal events such as the estate pumpkin patch to local initiatives throughout the year, we aim to create opportunities that bring people together within the landscape.
