Walks From The Door
Lochanshelloch Cottage sits just beyond Cawdor village, where estate tracks meet open fields and woodland. Paths and quiet lanes lead directly from the cottage and walks range from gentle loops around the village and castle grounds to longer routes through forest and moor.

Cycling & Forest Trails
Cycling is a natural way to explore the area, with quiet back roads and a wide network of forest tracks. Nearby, Culbin Forest offers miles of well-marked routes through dunes and woodland, part of an RSPB reserve rich in birdlife and open space.

Castle, Village & Local Life
Cawdor Castle and its gardens are within 30 mins walking distance or a shorter cycle, along with village staples - a well-loved tavern, deli and small shops. Antiques, cafés and local events add texture to days that don’t require getting in the car.

Wildlife All Around
The setting brings daily encounters with wildlife. Birds are ever-present, and it’s not unusual to spot hares, deer or birds of prey moving through the surrounding fields and woodland. The estate feels alive and changing with the seasons.

Coast & Highland Days Out
The Moray Firth coast, long beaches and coastal paths sit within easy reach, alongside Highland landmarks such as Loch Ness, Culloden and Clava Cairns. Day trips can range widely, from historic sites to open coastline, before returning to the quiet of the estate.

Rivers, Fishing & Open Water
The estate’s rivers and nearby waters offer opportunities for salmon and trout fishing. Whether casting a line or simply spending time beside the river, the landscape encourages slower, more attentive days outdoors.

Your Home from Home
After big days out, return to calm interiors, quality materials and thoughtful details that make the house feel like a proper home - comfortable, welcoming and quietly luxurious.

Dog Friendly
Well-behaved dogs are very welcome at Cawdor Cottages. Please ensure your pet is added to the reservation at the time of booking.
